Boris and Horton Café in the East Village is a wonderful place to visit, especially if you go with your lovely puppies. If the weather is not the best to go to the dog park, coming here could be one of your best options.
This place offers you a cozy and spacious area with tables and comfortable seats where you can spend hours without worrying about trying to entertain your dog since lots of dog owners come every day - especially between 4 and 7 pm - with or without their pets in order to spend some quality time and interact/play with other dogs.
This establishment is divided into two parts: The coffee shop that you can access from the main entrance of the local. It is a lovely place that offers everything that a coffee show has to offer: delicious coffee from different blends and flavors, taste snacks like muffins and cookies - chocolate chips were my favorite one! - and a nice variety of teas and cold drinks as well. The second area, and the biggest one, is where you can hang out with the puppies. This one has many tables and boosts where you can sit and enjoy your drinks and pastries, and of course, watching all types of dogs playing with each other. In addition, there is a mini pet store offering a variety of products for your dear friend; toys, treats, and even clothes are some of the things you can find in it.
Keep in mind that many people come just to have the chance to hang out with the dogs, and of course, enjoy a nice cup of coffee, so if you do not like to have your dog pet by strangers, this is definitely not a place for you and your pet.
The good things…
Wonderful staff, very friendly.
They have a coffee shop which offers everything you can imagine a coffee shop can offer - Their muffins are delicious!
They offer treats, toys, clothes, and more in their pet store. Most of the products are for dogs.
Whatever you buy in the coffee shop, you can bring it and enjoy it in the dogs area. These two are separated, but very comfortable and easy to move between them.
You do not need a dog to come here. It is a dog-friendly place, so you can come and have fun with other people’s dogs.
The not-so-good things…
You might find people who do not like to have their dogs pet, so make sure to ask the owner before playing with any dog.
I have been here three times already, and of course, I will continue visiting this place every time I want to enjoy a nice cup of coffee and hang around people who love dogs. It is a lovely place, perfect for an afternoon when the weather is not so good, and definitely a must to visit while you are in the city. Take the L train to 1 Av Station, that way you would only have to walk two blocks.
